HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 c214W
Mrs. Mann

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the higher incidence of tuberculosis amongst young women than in young men and in Scottish women than in English women, he will consider emergency measures to alleviate this position.

Mr. J. Stuart

Measures to combat respiratory tuberculosis, among young women as in other groups of the population have for some time been given first priority in the administration of the health services. Among young women the Scottish death rate was reduced by 62 per cent. between 1948 and 1951 and all available resources will continue to be devoted to securing further improvement.
