HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 cc211-2W
Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, whether a decision has yet been taken with regard to the steps necessary to ensure the continued publication of British Abstracts; and whether he can make a statement on the matter.

Mr. Molson

I understand that the Chemical Council will shortly issue an appeal for funds to enable British Abstracts to continue publication during 1953. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research have already provided £5,000 to enable the Bureau to continue operation while the appeal is being made and, provided a satisfactory financial response is forthcoming from industry, Her Majesty's Government are ready to make a further substantial contribution in 1953.
