HC Deb 02 February 1953 vol 510 c177W
Miss Burton

asked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent he accepts responsibility for informing the House of the facts supplied to him by the Coronation Accommodation Committee with regard to conditions and services available in hotels for foreign visitors to this country during the Coronation period.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

None. I would add that I have, of course, power to control hotel charges as services under both the Goods and Services (Price Control) Acts, 1939 to 1943, and Defence Regulation 55AB; but I regard control of hotel charges as impracticable and unenforceable.
