§ Miss HorsbrughOn the basis of the revised estimates of local education authorities for the financial year 1953–54, the total estimated cost of teachers' salaries in schools and other institutions maintained by those authorities is about £155 million. This expenditure ranks for82W grant under the main grant formula under the operation of which about 40 per cent. falls as a charge upon the rates.
