HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c104W
115. Mr. Pryde

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will consider incorporating the mental hospital at Newsaughtonhall, Polton, Midlothian, into the National Health Service, in view of the acknowledged shortage of accommodation and experienced staff in the service.

Mr. J. Stuart

This private mental hospital has been out of commission for almost a year. It could not be re-opened at the expense of the National Health Service without sacrificing other developments of greater value to the hospital service.
