Wakefieldasked the President of the Board of Trade what principles he is adopting in dealing with claims for grants under Section 3 (1) of the Distribution of Industry Act, 1950, having regard to the fact that this Section is designed to encourage manufacturers to transfer industrial undertakings to the Development Areas.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftThe Section authorises payments only if there are exceptional circumstances. The Board of Trade necessarily consider each application on its own merits and take fully into account all the circumstances of the individual case.
