HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 c50W
10. Mr. Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that a West End hotel, details of which have been supplied to him, are officially operating the colour bar against applicants for accommodation, &c.; what steps he takes to ensure that the colour bar is not operated against coloured colonial students and administrators brought to this country under the auspices of his Department.

Mr. Lyttelton

I am aware of the policy of the hotel to which the hon. Member refers. Every care is taken by my Department to see that students and administrators from the Colonies are accommodated in establishments where they are welcome.
