HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 cc58-9W
91. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General the allocation of telephone kiosks to Inverness; how many kiosks have been allocated to the county; and what representations he has received from the Inverness County Council on this matter.

Mr. Gammans

No quota is fixed for telephone kiosks in towns: seven have been provided in Inverness since April of last year.

The 1953 quota of rural kiosks for Inverness-shire is 10, in addition to 21 already provided this year outside rural post offices. The county council has asked for a larger allocation, but this could only be met by reducing the quotas for other areas, which are no better off.
