HC Deb 15 December 1953 vol 522 c42W
98. Mr. Tilney

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will now urge our allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation to establish an Atlantic consultative assembly.

Mr. Nutting

Her Majesty's Government are supporting the efforts which the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation is now making to find ways of bringing Members of Parliament in the 14 countries into closer touch with its work. But they do not feel that the time is ripe for the establishment of an Atlantic consultative assembly.
