§ 117. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Agriculture the average products, in lb. per acre per annum, obtained from hill farmers in England and Wales, separately; and what is the total acreage in each case indicating any additional acreage for winter grazing.
§ Sir T. DugdaleI regret that there are no acreage statistics available apart from the estimate of the De La Warr Committee on Hill Sheep Farming that the area of hill farming land in England and278W Wales is about five million acres. Data on output per acre are not precise enough to permit comparisons between England and Wales but in both countries it might be of the order of £3 10s.-£4 per acre per annum on hill farms, averaged over both cultivated and uncultivated land.
