Mr. Keenanasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what action he is taking with regard to the thousands of houses in many parts of the country now kept vacant and out of rent control by the owners, with a view to bringing the houses back into use and so decreasing the housing shortage.
§ Mr. MarplesLocal housing authorities have ample powers to purchase such houses, either by agreement or compulsorily, if they are needed to meet the housing needs of the district.
