Mr. Gamer Evansasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he has yet considered the application of the British Transport Commission for 248W authority to abandon the Welsh section of the Shropshire Union Canal from Llantysilio to Hurliston; and if he will refuse his consent to the abandonment, in view of the beauty and amenity of the waterway.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe closure of this section of the Canal to navigation was authorised by the London Midland and Scottish Railway (Canals) Act, 1944. I have received no application for its abandonment for other purposes.
