HC Deb 09 December 1953 vol 521 c241W
103. Mr. Erroll

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, now that substantial progress has been made with the provision of additional exchange facilities for Sale telephone exchange he will ensure that additional underground cables are installed to enable would-be subscribers to be connected.

Mr. Gammans

That is certainly our aim, and good progress is now being made. Six hundred and four new lines have been connected since the extension of the exchange in the autumn and in just over a year the waiting list has fallen by 726, despite a new demand of over 800 during the same period.
