HC Deb 09 December 1953 vol 521 c246W
108. Mr. Hardy

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General why registered letters do not bear any time stamp; and why they are treated differently from ordinary letters.

Mr. Gammans

Unlike ordinary letters, registered letters must be handed in at Post Office counters; the time of disposal from the counter is included in the records. The time of acceptance is entered on the certificate of posting on request.
