asked the Minister of Labour the numbers of men who had been deferred and were called up for National Service during the years 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1952.

The numbers are estimated to be 22,000, 1948; 44,000 in 1949;62,000 in 1950; 57.000 in 1951; and 54,000 in 1952.
