HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c153W
56. Mr. Edelman

asked the Minister of Labour what action he is taking to bring about a conciliation in a strike, particulars of which have been sent to him, which has now gone on for over 71 weeks.

Sir W. Monckton

My officers have been in contact with the parties at various times but it has not been possible to find an acceptable basis upon which the employers were prepared to meet the trade unions concerned and no opportunity has presented itself for conciliation.
