HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c168W
103. Mr. McKay

asked the Minister of Education how many increments, under her regulations, can a man claim who graduated in 1948, spent three years in industry from 1948 to 1951, then returned to the university for two years, one year to take a diploma, the other year for a special course, and then started teaching in June last.

Miss Horsbrugh

The hon. Member has kindly sent to me further details about this case. The teacher is eligible under the Burnham Report for an addition of two increments for his study and training. The counting for incremental purposes of the time spent in industry is, under the Report, a matter for determination by the local education authority.
