Mr. Finch

asked the Minister of National Insurance What progress he has made in the setting up of the proposed committee to consider the cover for diseases under the Industrial Injuries Act.

Mr. Peake

The Committee has now been appointed, and I am glad to say that Mr. F. W. Beney, Q.C. has accepted the Chairmanship. The terms of reference of the Committee areTo review the present provisions of the Industrial Injuries Act under which benefit is paid for diseases and for personal injuries not caused by accident and to make recommendations.

The membership is as follows:

  • Mr. J. W. Berry.
  • Sir Ernest Rock Carling, F.R.C.S., F.R.C.P.
  • Mr. C. R. Dale.
  • Sir Wilfrid Garrett.
  • Mr. R. Kean, O.B.E.
  • Sir William Lawther.
  • Dr. L. G. Norman, M.D., M.R.C.P., D.P.H.
  • Mr. A. Roberts, C.B.E.
  • Dr. Alice Mary Stewart, M.A., M.D., M.R.C.P.
  • Mrs. Gertrude Williams, B.A.
And one other member to be appointed after consultation with the nationalised industries.
