HC Deb 02 April 1953 vol 513 cc163-4W
14. Mr. Shepherd

asked the President of the Board of Trade to make a statement on the future work of the central and local price regulation committees.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

The work of the central and local price regulation committees has been progressively reduced as price controls have become unnecessary and have been removed, and I propose soon to submit to Her Majesty in Council an Order to bring the Goods and Services (Price Control) Acts to an end and so wind up the committees. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing the warmest thanks of Her Majesty's Government to the members of the committees for the valuable services which they have performed so well during the period when this type of price control was exercised.
