HC Deb 02 April 1953 vol 513 c171W
Mr. Bullard

asked the Minister of Agriculture what rate of grant will be available for clearing out ditches that have not been silted up by floods but require attention.

Sir T. Dugdale

The normal rate of grant for clearing out minor watercourses and ditches, whether they are the responsibility of internal drainage boards or private landowners, is 50 per cent. The Government has decided, however, that in the flooded areas, in order to facilitate the dispersal of salt from the land, the rate of grant shall be increased to 75 per cent. of the approved cost.
