§ 51. Mr. Hamiltonasked the Minister of National Insurance if he is aware that the continuous rise in the prices of foodstuffs is causing ever increasing hardship to retirement and other pensioners; that the recent increase in the basic pension has already been offset by these rising prices; and what he intends to do to relieve the hardship of this section of the community.
§ Mr. PeakeI do not agree that pensioners are suffering hardship following the recent increases in pensions. If any individual pensioner finds that his pension, together with such other resources as he may have, is insufficient, he should apply to the National Assistance Board for supplementation.
