HC Deb 21 October 1952 vol 505 c91W
100. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Pensions what reductions have taken place in the number of staff employed at his Cardiff office; and what instructions or requests have been made to the remaining staff regarding the working of overtime.

Mr. Amory

Since the beginning of this year the number of clerical posts in my Regional Office at Cardiff has been reduced by two. During this period, overtime has been worked by a few members of the staff, for periods of two or three days, on three occasions. There was on each occasion some special short-term emergency to be met. The overtime was entirely on a voluntary basis.

As regards the Cardiff typing pool, there have been no recent reductions in staff. Overtime has been worked on a voluntary basis at intervals during the year and has now ceased. The need for this arose from the disturbance of work brought about by the review of pension rates.
