HC Deb 21 October 1952 vol 505 c88W
85. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Minister of Labour what special medical tests for tropical diseases ex-Far East prisoners of war receive before being called up for further training in Z Reserve.

Mr. Watkinson

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Eye (Colonel J. H. Harrison) on 1st August, 1952, and I am sending him a copy of the note sent to Chairmen of Medical Boards early in March last. A Medical Board has no facilities for undertaking special medical tests for tropical diseases, but a man of whose fitness for service there is any doubt is referred to a consultant for a full report before a decision is given.
