HC Deb 21 November 1952 vol 507 c211W
Mr. Dugdale

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the action of the Government of Kenya in impounding, without any form of judicial enquiry, and subsequently selling, animals belonging to tribesmen who had not helped the police, has his consent.

Mr. Lyttelton

I assume that the right hon. Member refers to the seizure of stock on the 10th November in Nyeri District. That action was taken under the Special District (Administration) Ordinance and in accordance with that Ordinance a quasi-judicial enquiry is being held. The action has my full support.
