§ 98. Sir H. Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider arranging for a sample investigation into the background of a representative number of persons who have been convicted of crimes with violence.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeAn analysis of of cases of persons convicted of robbery with violence and kindred offences under Section 23 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916, during the period 1931 to 1940 was given in a Return to an Address in another place in July, 1951. A similar analysis for the period 1921 to 1930 was included in the Report of the Departmental Committee on Corporal Punishment. Proposals for a wider inquiry into crimes of violence are at present under consideration.
