HC Deb 29 May 1952 vol 501 c170W
Mr. Remnant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give instructions to the Central Advisory Council to lift the ban on dart playing in licensed houses in Carlisle on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

The rules have recently been relaxed to allow dart playing on Fridays throughout the Carlisle State Management District, and on Saturdays in a few houses in the city which have special facilities and, at the discretion of the manager, up to 7 p.m. in other city houses and all evening in country houses. I am advised, however, that darts cannot be played on Saturday evenings in those houses in the city which have no special facilities without inconvenience to those customers, and they are in the majority, who do not wish to play.
