Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what sections of the Legal Aid and Advice Act, 1949, are coming into force in April; and what regulations he proposes to make in this connection with regard to the procedure of applying for and granting legal aid in criminal cases.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeSubsections (1) and (3) of Section 18 and Sections 19 and 20 of the Legal Aid and Advice Act will come into force on 1st April, 1952. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the Legal Aid in Criminal Cases (Statement of Means) Regulations, 1952.
