HC Deb 04 July 1952 vol 503 c62W
Mr. J. Morrison

asked the Minister of Health how many persons were assisted in 1951 by the operation of the home-help service; how many of these would, without such assistance, have been occupying hospital beds; and whether he is satisfied that there is sufficient financial inducement to local health authorities to maximise the service in order to save hospital expenditure.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The answer to the first part of the Question is 166,759; the information asked for in the second part is not available; I do not think that local health authorities require any special financial inducement to develop this service to the maximum extent practicable.
