HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c62W
121. Mr. Bing

asked the Minister of Education whether she is aware that the Essex County Council have, on the grounds of economy, altered the school-staffing formula so as to reduce the number of teachers in Essex by about 150; and whether, in view of the fact that the Essex school population is rapidly increasing owing to the building of new towns and new housing estates by the London County Council and other authorities, she will refuse her assent to this step.

Miss Horsbrugh

I have no information about the decision of the Essex Local Education Authority referred to in the Question. I have told all local education authorities that adequate teaching staffs should be employed.
