HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c62W
Mr. Philip Bell

asked the Minister of Education the total number of girls, aged 15 years, at present attending provided and non-provided schools; what percentage of these have, since attaining the age of 15 years, voluntarily absented themselves without leave; and what is the average number of days lost by each such absentee.

Miss Horsbrugh

In January, 1951, there were 47,557 girls on the registers of county schools and 9,349 on the registers of voluntary schools and schools transitionally assisted by local education authorities. My Department keeps no records of individual attendances.
