HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c79W
75. Mr. P. Roberts

asked the Minister of Transport how many appointments have been made, part-time and full-time, to the British Transport Commission, Railway Executive, London Transport Executive, Road Haulage Executive and Road Passenger Executive; and how far the annual cost of salaries and expenses of these appointments exceeds £60,000.

Mr. Maclay

Particulars of these appointments including the salaries attaching to them are given in the White Paper "Public Boards" issued in December last. The salaries amount to £120,000 a year. In addition, a maximum of £4,000 a year is allowed for the entertainment expenses of members of the Commission and the executives as a whole. The amount actually expended under this head in 1950 was £2,231. This figure does not include the normal travelling and subsistence paid in respect of journeys on the business of the Commission.
