Mr. Baker White

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that, in assessing rents for land and property in redevelopment areas, certain local authorities take account of the immediate availability of building licences which the local authority can make available in the area; whereas in assessing compensation for the acquisition of the same land no account is taken of this fact; and if he will take steps to prevent local authorities from using their powers as building licensing authorities to influence land values in areas which they acquire.
