HC Deb 12 December 1952 vol 509 cc110-1W
Mr. Baker White

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the acute traffic congestion that takes place in Pall Mall and Panton Street during normal business hours due to parking of vehicles for long periods on both sides of the streets: and whether he will issue an order to prohibit parking in both these streets, or to limit parking to one side only.

Mr. Braithwaite

I know that there is a good deal of car parking in these streets, but I do not think that present conditions in Pall Mall justify such an order. We will, however, consider whether unilateral waiting should be introduced in Panton Street when the experimental scheme of unilateral waiting in other London streets has been tried out.
