HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c133W
102. Mr. Kenyon

asked the Minister of Labour why, in view of the present shortage of food and suitable labour locally, the application for deferment of National Service made by the Poultry Association of Great Britain for a farm worker engaged in pig and poultry husbandry at Tyler's Green, High Wycombe, was refused.

Sir W. Monckton

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the application made in respect of Mr. Gilbert Plumridge of Ashwells Farm, Tylers Green, High Wycombe. This application was rejected by the National Service Deferment Board on the unanimous advice of the local Agricultural Advisory Panel, who consider that it should be possible for the remaining staff to carry on the work of the farm without any appreciable loss of production.
