HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c133W
98. Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Labour what is now the normal time after registration that a young man can expect to be called up for National Service; and to what extent this period can be reduced if the potential Service man makes special application on grounds of hardship.

Sir W. Monckton

The interval between registration and call-up varies between about six and 22 weeks. Where a young man specially desires early call-up, the interval can be reduced to about three weeks.

100. Mr. T. W. Jones

asked the Minister of Labour how many workers engaged in building were called-up for National Service from Wales in 1950; and in the first nine months of 1951.

Sir W. Monckton

I regret that the information is not immediately available but I am having inquiries made and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as possible.
