HC Deb 26 November 1951 vol 494 c106W
81. Mr. W. T. Williams

asked the Minister of Food if he will give an assurance that there will be this year an adequate supply of poultry for sale for Christmas; and if he will lift the embargo on poultry from Europe to ensure that there will be no shortage of small birds.

Dr. Hill

Home production of poultry has increased during the last six months and it is hoped that this will largely offset the loss of supplies caused by the ban on imports from countries where fowl pest is endemic. Such restrictions are under constant review by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture.
