HC Deb 20 November 1951 vol 494 cc22-3W
73. Mr. Black

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider making a special campaign to encourage the taking up of National Savings investments in view of the financial position of the country.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The "Lend Strength to Britain" savings campaign, which was suspended during the election, has been resumed and I have assured the Chairman of the National Savings Committee that it has my full support. The National Savings Movement is, of course, a non-political organisation and I welcome this opportunity to appeal to all hon. Members to do everything they can to ensure that the campaign is successful.
