HC Deb 20 November 1951 vol 494 c22W
71. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what instructions were given to the British representative on the Executive Council of the International Monetary Fund before the loan of £3 million by the Fund to Persia was authorised; and what further action the British representative has been instructed to take.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The proposed borrowing by Persia from the International Monetary Fund amounts only to a temporary withdrawal of Persia's own gold subscription to the Fund. We have not opposed the transaction and we propose no further action.
