asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that notices of deferment of the call-up for agricultural workers do not state the procedure to be undertaken by employers to renew such deferment; and whether he will indicate what is the proper procedure under the recent arrangements.

Sir W. Monckton:

Since the middle of October all notifications of the grant of deferment in respect of an agricultural worker have contained the following note: If, when the current period of determent is nearing expiry, you consider that an extension of deferment is essential, you should apply on the prescribed form (N.S. 308) not later than seven days before the expiry date.
