HC Deb 10 May 1951 vol 487 c238W
33. Mr. G. Cooper

asked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent specified standards of designs, types, measurement and weights of fittings and equipment in various countries are having the effect of defeating international trade treaties to which the United Kingdom is a party and tending to control imports contrary to international trade agreements.

Sir H. Shawcross

I am not aware that the existence of standards of the type referred to by my hon. Friend has to any substantial extent the effects suggested. If my hon. Friend has any particular instances in mind and will let me have details I will, of course, have them examined.
