Mr. DugdaleThe information asked for in the first part of the Question is not readily available, and considerable labour would be involved in collecting it for the whole of the British African Territories. As regards the second part, the present system of direct taxation of Africans varies from territory to territory and is still in many cases of a rudimentary nature. If my hon. Friend wishes to obtain this information in respect of any particular territory, perhaps he will put down a separate Question.
