HC Deb 21 March 1951 vol 485 c282W
68. Mr. Cuthbert

asked the Minister of Food why he is importing apples and fruit from the Argentine, to the detriment of our home fruit growers' market.

Mr. Webb

The Ministry of Food does not buy apples or any other fruit from the Argentine. All imports are on private account; they are marketed here during the late winter and spring months when home-produced supplies of fruit are very small or non-existent.
