HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 c270W
136. Mr. Hopkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will give an assurance that recruitment to the Gurkha units of the British Army will in no way be affected by the recent political developments in Nepal.

Mr. Younger

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 14th November last to the hon. Member for Paddington, South (Mr. de Chair) and on 29th January of this year to the hon. Member for Sutton Coldfield (Sir J. Mellor). His Majesty's Government are continuing to recruit Gurkhas to the British Army under the existing arrangements with Nepal.
