HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c237W
116. Mr. Mott-Radclyffe

asked the Minister of Transport upon what date he received a report from the Road Research Laboratory regarding the marking of pedestrian crossings; and how soon he intends to bring in the necessary regulations, in the light of the recommendations made in that report.

Mr. Barnes

The Road Research Laboratory made a report on the marking of pedestrian crossings in April, 1950, and I have had their recommendations in mind in working out my proposed new policy. Marking, however, is only one of the factors to be considered. On the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Dorset, South (Viscount Hinchingbrooke) on 12th February.

Surgeon Lieut.-Commander Bennett

asked the Minister of Transport what progress he has made with his new regulations governing pedestrian crossings.

Mr. Barnes

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Dorset, South (Viscount Hinchingbrooke) on 12th February. I have received comments on my proposals from some of the associations of local authorities and I am awaiting them from others and from associations representing road users.
