HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c220W
31. Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what licences, and for how much, have been issued for converting the gas showrooms and gas offices in Church Street, Ilkley, to gas showroom and gas offices of the North-East Gas Board.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

In September last my Ministry, in accordance with the powers conferred by Defence Regulation 56A, authorised the North-Eastern Gas Board to convert some premises in Church Street, Ilkley, into gas showrooms and an accounts payment centre. The estimated cost was£2,950. These premises were previously a shop. Until then there had been no proper gas showrooms at Ilkley. Before authorisation for the work was granted, the application was considered and approved by the local planning authority and, in accordance with normal procedure, it was examined by the regional licensing officer of the Ministry of Works.
