Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Health what was the average age of mortality of the total population of Great Britain in 1939 and 1945, respectively; and what was the estimated figure at the latest convenient date.

Mr. Marquand

The average age at death in Great Britain in the years 1939 and 1945 was 59 and 60 respectively. The provisional figure for 1949 is 64.
