114. Mr. McAdden

asked the Minister of Transport what weight of meat is at present obliged to be provided for merchant seamen under the scale of provisions for seamen laid down by his regulations under the Merchant Shipping Acts.

Mr. Barnes

The weekly allowance of fresh meat, including fresh offal and fresh sausage, which must be provided for merchant seamen under the Statutory Scale is 4 lb. 11 oz. The weight of fresh meat is the weight including fat and bone before preparation for cooking.
