HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c217W
1. Mr. Leslie Hale

asked the Minister of National Insurance for what reason claims for a funeral benefit under the National Insurance Scheme are rejected if not made within 28 days of the death.

Dr. Summerskill

There is general agreement that there must be some time limit for these claims though opinions may differ as to the appropriate period. As the matter is at present under consideration by the National Insurance Advisory Committee, I would prefer not to make any comment at this stage.
