HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c234W
108. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that it is impossible to preserve eggs which are not new laid; and if he will consider allowing housewives a periodical bonus of guaranteed new-laid eggs on the same lines as the sugar bonus, to enable them to preserve these egs for use during the months of egg shortages.

Mr. F. Willey

Our distribution arrangements for eggs get them to the shops at all times in freshest condition. Last spring many people bought eggs from the shops for preserving and I feel sure that their experience will not prevent them from doing so again this spring and will encourage others to follow their sensible example.
