105. Mr. Key

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the strength of the Civil Defence Corps and Auxiliary Fire Service on 28th February, 1951; and how many recruits joined the Corps and the Auxiliary Fire Service, respectively, during the month of February.

Mr. de Freitas

In England and Wales during February 12,000 recruits joined the Civil Defence Corps, bringing the strength at the end of the month to 122,200; and 650 recruits joined the Auxiliary Fire Service, bringing the strength at the end of the month to 9,400.
